The United Church of Christ recognizes as its sole head Jesus the Christ. We are a united and uniting church. We were once several bodies that are now joined together. The goal of the United Church of Christ is to be joined together in one church on earth. We actively promote cooperation between churches and denominations. We strive to bring people everywhere together in the name of Christ and work towards building sacramental and missional partnerships with other denominations and churches.
The United Church of Christ looks to the authority of scripture as the ultimate rule of faith and practice. As stated elsewhere in the website we are a very diverse community. We encourage doctrinal freedom. We feel it is the responsibility of the church in each generation and community to make faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God. We believe “God is still speaking!”
The United Church of Christ was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions: from the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto—"that they may all be one"—is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church. Trinity UCC has been a part of the United Church of Christ since its inception. The UCC is one of the most diverse Christian denominations in the United States.
We live out our baptismal vows in community. We share regularly in worship and celebrate baptisms. We gather for the Lord’s Supper monthly. Locally we support many mission projects. Many of our members actively travel to participate in mission projects and serve on the boards of local charities. As throughout the UCC, no official, national hierarchy manages the affairs of Trinity Church. We are a covenant community bound through by-laws of our own making. The affairs of Trinity Church are administered by the Consistory. The Consistory is comprised of a set of officers and an representative from each standing committee of Consistory.
At Trinity Church we offer Unity – for Christians of diverse traditions seeking one church on earth Action – a heritage of working for Christ’s kingdom Freedom – the support of diverse viewpoints while learning from one another
We are our mission statement:
Trinity United Church of Christ exists to share the love of God within our community and beyond!
